Is there a program that will let me share a specific folder of files on my pc to anyone on the net that has my ip address, user name, and password?

Thanx

I would only do that on a pc that is used exclusively for that...do not use your main PC (you would be asking for it).

What OS are you running?

on windows xp, i guess you can use Remote Desktop and your desktop would be your website (something like that) .. i never actually did it myself.

I use WWW File Share Pro for this. It's a third party application that I can turn on and off.

You could use FTP - I have used Filezilla's server edition, and found it to be quite fast. it is also reportedly more secure than the Windows FTP service service - http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/. I havent used it in a while, but i recall it being surprisingly simple to set up. GuildFTP also comes to mind...

They've got pretty good documentation on the Filezilla site on how to configure it. for people outside of your network to access the ftp server, you'll need to set up your router to forward traffic to the ftp port to the local ip address of the server. all of this is very well documented by either your router manufacturer or other information sources you can find with a quick google search.

I like "HTTP File Server" - http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hfs.html
