A lot of times there is network activity on my PC and I'm not doing anything on the net, I don't have automatic update setup on anthing. Even windows update I do myself. No Virus updates nothing. Is there a way i can track this activity with a program or somthing to find out were it is coming from or what it is accessing?

Thanx all

Most firewall programs will log network activity. While that isn't necessarily "real-time" it can point to apps that may be running autonimously, spyware, etc.

Good luck,
Kevin

"Network activity" and the "doing anything on the net" are two differnent things. There are several network activites that you have no control over such as your computer announcing iteself to the network it is on and communications with a DHCP and DNS servers. Additionally if you are on a network with other PC's there are master browser elections.

You can use the "netstat" command to see that connections you have from your PC to your network. If you want something a little more user friendly and completely free, drop by SysInternals and download TCP View. With this utility you can see what communications your PC is making and accepting in real time. You can double click each entry and see the path to the program on your computer that is initiating the connection.
