and i havent canceled my account with the other host

the site is still up on the other host server

i just wanted to know the proper steps in transfering a site to a new host

could someone give me advice.

decided to create a forum name to better assist me when i need help with the site or have some problems

All you have to do is change your name server to point to
ns3.powweb.com
ns2.powweb.com

Thats it.

I'm taking over admin of a domain that's currently registered by networksolutions and moving it to a newly created powweb account. I've got passwords to access its current hypermart OPS page, but do I also need to contact Network Solutions to change the name server? I guess what I'm asking is, should I be able to do this through powweb or hypermart?

vv Thanks. I was hoping that wasn't the truth, as I've had a beast of a time getting access to the hypermart site; the guy is kind of reluctant to give up control of the site.

You do it with the current registrer of your domain.
If networlsolution is the registrer, then you should be able to do it them.

Ok, I finally got access to to change the name server with network solutions and I've done so, to ns3.powweb.com & ns2.powweb.com like said above. Is this really all I have to do?

Do I assume this is going to take a bit of time (hours) for everything to refresh and point to the right place?

It may take up to 3 days (it depends on the setup of previous DNS and many other factors).
