View Full Version : All e-mail directed to master account
As of some time this morning, all my e-mail is being automatically directed to my master e-mail account (e.g. *@<hostname>.com), instead of going to the intended recipient.
I haven't changed anything in the configuration of my mail accounts in months, and it was all working fine through yesterday.
Today, after noticing that even my test messages weren't going through, I decided to check the master account, and sure enough, every message that was sent to me today is sitting in the master e-mail account.
Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks.
I'll answer my own problem.
Somehow, the configuration on my accounts was lost, and within the SMTP tab of the OPS screen, all my mail accounts had the recipients listed as "NONE", instead of the expected POP username. I'm not sure what caused this corruption, but by recreating the link to my POP usernames, it's all good again.

So how do you relink the POP3 names to the SMTP or whatever? My mail is doing the same thing. All the POP 3 mail is going to the master account. Thanks William

Hi William. I guess I wasn't the only one whose configuration got zapped.
Here's what I did. Go to the main OPS page:
https://ops.powweb.com/
Then click the "Packages" tab up top, then select "SMTP". There, you'll see a Current Settings table, and I'll bet that for your mail accounts that aren't working, the "recipient" field is set to NONE.
If so, then select "edit" under the failing account(s), and then you'll be taken to a screen where you can choose the corresponding POP account for that address, and then click "Add" right next to it.
Then, click the SMTP tab up top again, and verify the change was made in the Current Settings list. You'll have to go through this for EVERY account that got zapped, so hope you didn't lose too many.
FWIW, when I first reported the problem, PowWeb tech support suggested I try recreating all my mail aliases. I would NOT recommend you do that, since it may not let you recreate the same usernames (my old usernames started with a number, and it wouldn't let me create a new username that started with a number, so now I need to go and reconfigure the mail client (Outlook) to reflect the new username for the one account I recreated). The way I fixed it above should put things back the way they were with no extra effort in your end user configs.
Hope this helped,
- Jerry

Hi Jerry,
My e-mail has not been working either for the last 2 days, so in desperation (tech support was not helpful), I came to this forum and read your post. Sure enough - same deal, no recipients. I went through the changes you outlined and at least now my tests are working. Now I have to see if all my mailing lists messages come to me, and I also have to wade through a couple hundred e-mail messages that ended up in the wrong place. I guess I'll do that via the web.
Thanks for your post - it really helped.
Ed

Been Having same probs with all mail going to the main account. I have corrected the problems of it redirecting to the main account. But that didn't work. I did a clean sweep of everything by deleting all user accounts and aliases. But that didn't work. Now I really have no clue what to do... Anybody can shed some light on this:confused:
