Server to Support Site 2 Site FTP Transfer?

I am trying to leave my existing hosting provider and move all my data to my Powweb host but since I have about 5GB of data or so. I was looking at just using my FTP client to to a Site to Site FTP transfer. When I try this the powweb host message says it will only open a connection to my client (aka me) not my other host. What can I do about this besides download all the data and then re-upload it again?

You'll need to download, then re-upload all your files. The other option is to tar/zip them up on your current host, then untar/unzip on powweb.

Its also a good chance to get a backup of your site.

You can't do FTP to FTP transfer with PowWeb's FTP.

Other than the method BWG suggested, you can use a script to get files to your site from the FTP of old host.
However, 5GB is huge, and you may have to split the data and do it by small chunk with any method.

You may check with support if they can do it for you, too.

Probably the best way is to create tar (or tar.gz) files of a few hundreds MB each,
and download them to your machine and uppload to PowWeb.
