Moving domains

Hi,

Does anyone know, if I move my message boards from one URL to another, whether I lose all my data? Will my users have to re-register or is there a way to keep it all?

If its just a URL, then there shouldn't be any issues (you may have to change some items in the admin panel).

If you're moving hosts, as long as you keep the same board, you should be able to export/dump and move it to the new place without issues.

Well, I did buy a new hosting package but still with Powweb.
So basically if I move my entire folder to the new host package, I should still keep all my data, right? :confused:

Depends on alot of factors.

Are you using a database or flat-file?
Are the file structures similiar between the hosts?

The main point here is, as long as you keep the same message board and get a good backup of the data, you will only have to make minor changes...and not lose any data.
