I recieved a Panasonic digit camera at xmas . It came with 2connecting cords for my PC.I have a Compaq PC that was rebuilt so its old but as Im just new to the PC world I have no idea where to plug anything in.Any ideas would help at this point as Id like to print pictures and send them via email. The camera is a Panasonic Lumix 4.0 digital new to that as well HELP HELP HELP thanks Kram.
Your camera probably has a USB cable to connect to the PC. The end that plugs into the PC has a connector that is rectangular in cross-section and about 1/2" (12mm) wide and 3/16" (4-5mm) in height. USB ports were not common on computers built prior to about 1999 so your Compaq may not have one. Look on the back of your computer (I assume it's a desktop) to see if there is a port matching the plug. If not, you can buy USB cards at most computer sellers. Also, USB was not supported by Windows 95 and I think the first edition of Windows 98 so if you are running one of those OS's you may be out of luck.
Another option may be to get a card reader for your camera's storage card (SD, XD, etc.) but most of the external readers also use USB.
You could always beg a friend (a good one) to do a "picture dump" on their computer and burn a CD for you. :D
Good luck,
Kevin

Hi Kram,
We spoke on the phone about your digital camera, or we tried when you were interrupted by phone calls and kids. ;) You said you connected your digital camera to one of several USB ports and did not try to swap ports. And you installed the camera driver (software on the camera cd that looks like music disc).
You must use the correct driver for your camera and operating system. You can go to the camera manufacturer's website to select your camera and operating system (example: Windows 98) to be sure you have the most recent version of the driver to install. Follow the instructions. You should install the driver, plug in your camera, reboot (turn off your computer and turn it back on) and turn on your camera.
Left click the My Computer icon (or My Desktop or My Laptop or whatever yours is named) and look for Removable Disk. Click on that to view your images. You can copy and paste (or cut and paste) them into a folder on your computer. You must have graphics software installed to view images. You can use the program included with your operating system.
