View Full Version : Cluster02 Uptime?
I have been using powweb for about a year now and my site resides on Cluster02. 02 have been plagued with DDoS attacks, database and other server issues that the admins rarely discloses. I would guess that 02 uptime is somewhere around 93-97%. Is this a fair assumption? There have been many occasions were I have received emails from people who was trying to access my site with no success. This downtime really hurts the reputation of my site and business. Powweb, I hope that you are doing everything to help bump your downtime to less then 3%.

From TOS: http://powweb.com/PowWeb/Company/Policy/TOS
99.9% Uptime: PowWeb has a 99.9% average uptime across our entire network at large, which includes webservers, mailservers, and more - as a whole. If a single server is temporarily offline, the rest of the PowWeb servers remain unaffected and uninterrupted, thus contributing to our overall uptime.
I am also on cluster 2 and have been for over a year. Until today, i had not noticed any significant downtime, and have been happy with the service. Today was the first day (that i noticed anyway) that had a significant problem of more than a few minutes.
I have not had significant outages with my cluster02 site until today. Certainly nothing like my cluster04 site, where outages and slowdowns come in clusters for days and weeks at a time.

What about overall vs. cluster downtime?
Good justification for 99% uptime, but in reality a site uptime is less then 99%.
When it comes to my business I only care about the cluster, mail and sql database that I reside on which is not close to 99%.
Now if there were a way to load balance sites across multiple clusters then the 99% will become relevant and meaningful to myself.

So you were never affected by the multiple DDoS attack 02 experiences a few months ago. There are a handful of threads on the forum discussing them.
if my site was affected, i didnt notice it. I dont rely on my website for income, so it may have been down and I didnt notice. If i did rely on my website for income, I would probably use dedicated hosting...

It seems like that since they got Cluster 2 back up yesterday, the Front Page server extensions are no longer working. Can someone please look into this??
I'm not the only one having this problem:

thefordmccord, please do not cross/multi post.
I think you should file a ticket (via OPS>>support, or email), or contact support via chat/phone.

Well, I didn't really cross post, I just linked to a thread that I found later of a person having the same problem. This tells me that I am not the only one having this problem. The only reason I posted in this thread was because I started a new thread about this problem and it for some reason or another never showed up.
edit:
I see that the thread that I tried to start was just merged with the one that I linked to. It's nice to know that it is stuck 4 forums deep so that no one will ever see it.
"the same problem". What problem? What is your site URL?
