DVDRW Issue

Hey everyone,

I just installed a working (on a different computer) DVD-RW Drive.
Model Magicspin IDE1008

Here's what happened.
1) Everything was working fine
2) I used the drive to boot a Live Linux disc (just for testing linux)
3) Went back to windows
4) Updated firmware on the Drive (went from .54 to .6 using liveupdate)
5) Now the drive doesn't read any discs and shows in explorer as a cd-rom, but the drive does show the correct model etc under the device manager.
6) I have tried to uninstall the driver, but when I restart, windows automatically installs the .6 driver again!
7) I have tried to revert to the older, but it tells me there is no backup
8) I made sure to install the ASPI layer again (just to make sure)

I am so confused and frustrated!

Also, just an update.
The drive will read the Linux disc (in Windows) but not another disc. Also, it won't even see CD-r or DVD-R
