i had poblems with my pc since i restored it yesterday because it was slow. and now that i restored it its even slower than it was. geesh!:sweatdrop

anyway... i need to restore it again to redo everything and i have a bunch of music files ive had for years all in 2 RAR files. its about 6gb all together. BUT WHERE WOULD I UPLOAD THAT!!!?? last time i used rewritable disks and it tooks 2 days but i dont want to do all that again. i just need something i could create multiple accounts on to upload all of it in one day for free. i dont want one of those accounts that let you upload 1000MB and thats all you get until the next month. i need something BIG and FREE.

6GB!!!!!

sry, im new and i dont exactly know where to post this thread.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!! :smug:

I don't know any place online that'll give you that much space for free.

Do you have a dvd burner? Hell, you could buy a cheap dvd burner and an external USB drive enclosure for no more than $150 (probably less). Then just put it on 2 dvds (or 1 single layer dvd).

I don't know what kind of internet connection you're on, but even if you found a place online, do you have any idea how long it would take to upload 6 GB? Most broadband seems to be capped between 16 and 32KB/s upstream...we're not talking hours. You're look at days of upload.

I would NOT upload a bunch of music files! No web host will store copyrighted files. You can use another hard drive for backups and even use it as a slave or secondary hard drive. Do you have any old hard drives around the house?

I remember taking 3 or 4 hours to move 9 Gig of files to a backup hard drive, when I had to reformat my primary hard drive. I would not want to imagine how long it would take to UPLOAD these files. Moving files from one drive to another on the SAME computer is much faster.

There are some great freeware or cheap programs to copy files from one hard drive to another. See http://www.dirfile.com/freeware/copy-dvd.htm or http://www.freeware-guide.com/dir/util/backup.html or others. I couldn't find the program I use and love, but many of these probably do the same thing.

You could even look into a USB drive. I picked up a 160 gig one on sale for around 120 bucks. I use it all the time for dumping large files and such.

It can take you a good couple of days in uploading those files. Assuming your connection won’t get dropped. I know how it feels when I have to upload about 1GB of images to get them printed, it runs for hours.

I would also recommend a portable USB hard drive, they are inexpensive and offer a great backup solution. Good Luck
