I know Dell pc's can be fussy. I want to add RAM to one. A Dell Dimension 2350

There are 2 RAM slots.. 1 free of course.
It has a; 256MB Dell Dimension 4400 184 Pin PC2100 DDR DIMM
Will add a; 256MB Ultra 266MHz PC2100 DDR
Or even better a; 512MB Kingston 266MHz PC2100 DDR

Will they kick in alongside the current 256 ok?
Is differing Mhz RAM cards a problem in Dell's?

crucial.com calls for pc2700 ram...if i recall, correctly, pc2100 and pc2700 have different DDR speeds, and mixing them will lead to the lower speed being used (the speed of the 2100 in this case, 266mhz, vs. 333mhz for pc2700). shouldnt be a problem to have 768mb; I did this in a dell laptop (with kingston memory) and it worked fine. i would do some googling to see if you can turn up any other problems with memory upgrading with your specific model...

adding RAM is the best "bang for your buck" upgrade, and i would go with adding 512; the price difference is only about 25 bucks. You'll be happy with the upgrade either way, however, particularly if you are running windows xp. I have a few computers running 512mb ram with windows xp and only rarely wish i had more memory. when i bought the ram the price was much higher than it is today...
