Name: Keith (keithl)
Location: Endurance, Burlington
Computer(s): Mac first, PC-enabled

How long have you been with Endurance?
I started at Endurance in November of 2005 after leaving a well-known office supply company based in the Bay State (I would "staple" the name here, but I really shouldn't) where I was responsible for Site Operations (e-commerce for U.S. and International sites).

How much time, on average, do you spend at the PowWeb Forums per day?
I currently lurk about 2 hours a day, but that's going to seriously increase once we start the transition.

Are you a web designer or programmer? If yes, When did you create your first web site?
I have been a graphic designer since 1989, and a Web designer since 1994. My first site was for a Fortune 500 company called Paul Revere Insurance based in Massachusetts which was bought out by New York Life in 1998. One other embarrassing claim to fame: I designed and built the first-ever "FrontPage" Web site when FrontPage 1.0a was created by a company named Vermeer Technologies in Waltham, Massachusetts (about 7 months before it was sold to Mr. Gates + Co.). A partial list of sites for which I've designed throughout my career include Staples, DHL, UPS, Manugistics, Nickelodeon, MTV and HBO.

What advice would you give a first time web hosting client?
Read everything being offered to you and ask a lot of questions. If you're an individual looking to explore, have fun and always make a backup! If you're a business coming online for the first time then hold on to your hat and get comfy. It'll be a wonderful journey and one that can seriously help your pockets if you research and benchmark.

What advice would you give existing PowWeb clients weary of the upcoming changes?
I am personally very excited. We've had a great deal of experience in transitioning sites and services. Am I technically going to put anyone at ease? Nope. However, I know that if customers stay informed (via forums or e-mail), they'll know what and where and when and why from the people who have the technical knowledge to make this as easy a transition as possible.

How do you see the web changing in the next five years?
The competitive landscape of the Web will a) create a more issues than we've ever seen with the increase in international commerce and internet law, b) larger bandwidth will create an incredibly powerful socioeconomic challenge and could force newer technology to become less expensive and more readily available.

What are your other hobbies?
Oh, you know... long walks on the beach, sunsets... OK, OK, I play the drums and I sing. I USED to do both of these things professionally at a low level in really rank bars across the Northeast (I remember being paid $55 once).

Favorite books, television shows or movies?
I've been a huge fan of the collective works of both Kurt Vonnegut and Ken Follett. I don't watch too much TV other than baseball and Mythbusters (but I've been known to get into very deep discussions about the vocal talents of the American Idol contestants).

What is your favorite quote or saying?
Mr. Valentine has set the price!

Nice to see another employee active on the forums. Your sense of humor will serve you well here. Graphic designer (89-94) of 5 years had a hand in the "first" FrontPage site. Sorry but I'm still laffin about that one.

I'd like to hear some of your music if any was recorded. PM or post some links? Given time.. I may even forgive you for the whole FrontPage thing.

As well you should... it was also one of the worst sites on the Web. We use to call it the non-example after it was launched.

I'll have to see if I have anything recorded. I didn't write the stuff - I simply pimped out my artistic talent to pay for macaroni and cheese and peanut butter (not to be eaten at the same time, btw).

Given time.. I may even forgive you for the whole FrontPage thing.

Don't forgive me - it's been the impetus for my perpetual strive for greatness. You'll just take away my motivation. :p

I see that Tom forgot to ask the important questions again. Married? Have any children? There aren't just guys on these forums, you know! ;)

I can't believe you admitted to that Front Page thing, but it was uphill after that!

Or even when you're already 'happily' married? Aren't you Yvette?.. Hmmm... last time, I believe, was during a horrible food poisoning incident in 1991.

Married with three children and a dog.

What are the ages and names of your children?

My son Mark is 8 years old and has a goat that we consider the dog. We will be moving and we might not be able to take him with us, but we have several good offers for a good home for him (the goat). You couldn't pay someone to take Mark. :D

Ah good... another victim. And we not only get to meet new people, but we also learn so much about others too. :D

For instance...

We wanna know bloke stuff like; "When did you vomit so bad you thought you were going to turn your guts inside out and die!"
Now there's a lady that would obviously be fun to party with

And...

I won't front you out, but go Cubs.
For somebody who has such bad taste in Football teams, we now find out that Tom has impecable taste in Baseball teams. :D

Welcome keithl good to have you on board. Here's to a not so bumpy road over the next couple of months. ;)

Scary? Nah...

...and biting is an add-on expense. It's not part of the package and I only do it after a formal request and full background check.

Keith, yes you look tough in that avatar/picture, but as we all know, guys who look or try to look tough turn out to be teddy bears most of the time. :D
