View Full Version : BETA Testing
Is there any public BETA tests before the migration?
What about the control panel, I came across a post saying that the current OPS will stay and we will have a choice to use something else (cPanel?), what version of the current OPS will be used, classic or BETA? Will the instant installer stay or go, what about ssh within cPanel, will it be there?
It's been said that the new platform is Linux, what distribution?
Some folks said the migration will start by the end of this month, any dates, or word on progress?

I am always happy to beta test! Also.
cPanel will not be used. No SSH. The OPS panel will be somewhat different from what it is today. RedHat Linux is used.
I don't think they're at the stage for beta testing yet.
If the migration starts later on this month, then when if any?
We do not know yet if we are going to offer a public beta test. Be rest assured that if we are, A. You will find out about it and B. You will have plenty of time to use it, abuse it, send us the bugs, and have us fix them.

I'm not a lawyer, but I know it's not illegal to abuse people's intelligence in the US. I'm sure things are done differently in New Zealand, but is it allowed to serve warm beer there?

It is, but only when there are absolutely no cold ones. :D

I abuse windoze programs all the time, and the only punishment is my wife complaining about the language used.
Any idea how many servers are going to be used?

I'm guessing that the words "a lot" don't help? :D

I'd bet that if the new folks treat us as well as PowWeb did, the loyalty rate will be about 98%. On the other hand, lying, deceiving, avoiding issues, hiding things, and general untruthfulness will probably drive folks away. It's like working in fast food. . .if you don't like it, you can get any number of equally bad but different jobs.
There's nothing I'd like more than to have an event-free migration and to remain a happy customer of PowWeb/Endurance/whoever is next. That's up to the vendor more than it is to me. I'll work with the new folks every way I can, including beta testing. And if it works well and is a happy relationship, I'll tell all my friends. If not, well, I'll miss you.
Like the sign in my local public bar, "If the beer is good, tell your friends, if the beer is bad, tell us first."

A lot of good beer sounds good, a few bad beer's may be a bit dodgy.
Luckily my site would run with one dodgy beer.

I agree.
I don't expect an event-free migration, but I hope that they will do their best to resolve any problems caused by the migration. A good company can provide good services. A great company can provide good customer service when there is a problem with the services. ;)

Bingo! Yvette.
I'm sure there will be rough bits - but I'm hopeful we'll all come out fine
on the other end. Let's all cut the powweb folks some slack through the
transition - I'm sure it is no fun for them. If anyone out there has actually
had fun making a transition from one owner to another, raise your hand....
I thought so, no hands. I'm taking my chill-pill now. You?

I spoke with someone who left PowWeb a few months ago. He told me that things were great. Two days later he said he spoke too soon. The new web host had the same problems with slow servers or DoS attacks. The grass isn't greener on the other side.

Good analogy! One person who had a bad experienece somewhere else should be a leson for all of us. It's bad out there, be happy.
