I am trying to give someone the ability to upload files to my site, but only want them to have access to a specific directory. I have set them up an Additional FTP Accounts with access to that directory. Each time I try to log in under that account I get '421 Home directory not available - aborting'. I have the path set at /www/m/user/htdocs/tillie. Is this correct?
If you've created the folder "tillie" within your htdocs and it has been more than 30 minutes since you created the new user and set the path, then you should be able to log into that folder.
Remember that everything is case sensitive, so the folder name must match the path Exactly. You can not name the folder Tillie and then place tillie in the path.
When you configure the ftp program to connect, do not put anything as the remote directory (folder) since the path you've set in OPs will only allow connection into that folder.
When you configure your FTP client, the /www/m/user/ part of the path should not be specified. You would use htdocs/tillie as the path. If you specified that path in the setup of the FTP account in OPS, then the client would not have any path (or just /) as that would be the default.
