So... using your domain name instead of the regular FTP or SSL URLs is a temporary fix until this routing problem is fixed.

However in the case of the FTP, I believe this is an unsecure connection and there may be security risks involved if you use it repeatedly/long periods.

And the SSL strings will of course need to be changed back after the problems are corrected, so you may wish to make copies of your pages before you change them.

My form mail is also now working with the SSL name changed.

I am not aware of any security (i.e. encryption) used for FTP, and using your domain name versus the powweb.com subdomain should not be any different. My guess is that if someone were intercepting/watching FTP transfers, they would be watching IP numbers, not domain names.

I was not referring to an encrypted ftp, but secure in the fact that the server ftp address is is generic without the password.

Many a "I've been hacked" tale uncovers that fact that the owner was uploading files directly, without using login protection.
