I posted these issues last week (http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=65970), but they seem to have been moved to the post-migration section, which may be why no one's answered them. Anyway...

I'm on manual migration. The migration tool must have been run quite a while ago because there were a number of old MySQL databases, out-dated SMTP addresses, and files. So I re-ran the migration tool. Unfortunately, there are still old MySQL databases--it didn't drop them. My newer SMTP addresses haven't been copied over. Some old domains which were deleted 2+ weeks ago (because they expired) are still there. Old directories which I deleted weeks ago are still there.

Doesn't the migration tool "clean out" the new platform before migrating things over? This cruft in my shiny new platform makes me wonder about the integrity of the content of my databases and many other settings that I don't want to have to spend hours replicating or checking.

No it does not clear old stuff. I cleaned up my site before I migrated and re-ran the migration to copy over files. I too had old stuff still there. So I thought why not delete everything. I ftp'd into the new site and deleted all the directories and files. Then reran the migration a second time. Presto only my current file were there. Kind of a pain but worked.

I did not try to delete the SQL databases, so I still had to manually go in after I did the DNS flip and clean up my SQL databases.

Cheers,
Goose

Thank you for the response, Goose. I don't know why PW/Endurance isn't answering my questions--they've been great until I hit this wall.

I can easily delete my files and drop my databases on the new platform, but unfortunately, I have no way of clearing out my domains or DNS settings. And my newer SMTP settings are still not being migrated. I certainly don't want to have to backup and restore my MySQL databases when the migration tool is supposed to take care of that.
