Has anyone been successful in getting Jhead (EXIF parser used by gallery) to work correctly with Powweb after the migration? I have downloaded the linux compiled, chmod 755, but I when I enable debugging I recieve a permission denied error.

Debug messages:
sh: line 1: /home/users/web/myactualroot/htdocs/netpbm/jhead: Permission denied

Any ideas?

I'm afraid we can't use ANY binary in our directory.
New PowWeb is secure, but pretty restrictive.

They may change their mind, but so far, despite my effort, they are not showing any sign of understanding.
If you absolutely need binary CGI or binary in your directory, you have no choice but choosing another host.

EDIT:

New PowWeb(Endurance) may install what you need on the server itself, if there are demands.
At leas, they seem to be open for that. So, why don't you ask them? You have nothing to loose.

WTF...this sucks. Do you think we can setup a php script that calls that file or that won't work either? I am sure there are a ton of gallery users that would like jhead installed so maybe I can coerce them into installing the executable of that.

So far, I don't see any possibility in invoking a binay in our directory.
Please read the portion I added by editing im the previous post.

jhead is in "/usr/local/bin". Wish I could find or have them install NetPBM or FFMPEG...

FYI, some binaries we needed to install ourselves on the old PowWeb might be installed already on the new server,
because RH Linux and FreeBSD have different set of standard utilities.

So, it's worth lookiong for what you want in /usr/bin or /usr/local/bin or any other standard path
of the utility for RH Linux.

No 'locate' command on the new platform ...
You can find with 'which' or other commands if the utilitie is in the PATH.

Yup, now only if FFMPEG were available...
