View Full Version : BIG Problem

I took on a contract a while ago to build an online store. I am currently hosting said store on my webspace.

The cart software is cubecart, and was installed usin the instant installer by a friend of mine.

Now, here's the problem. I can access the site via my browser, so I KNOW its there, however, when I go to log into ftp, I can't see the folder for it anywhere.

The site is www.l33tmonkey.com/horse

In web ftp or in bulletproof ftp there's nothing in the htdocs folder or cgi bin relating to the store. When my friend, who CAN access the folders for some reason, on the same account (he is my programmer) linked me directly to the folder via ftp, i found an htdocs and cgi bin folder in it, and when I clicked on either, it just came up with another htdocs and cgi bin, i got the same result for each folder, constantly looping, so it was htdocs/htdocs/htdocs etc, and vice versa with the cgi bin.

I need to access the folders so I can upload the new store skin.

Help.

Have you tried switching your ftp settings to simply: ftp.powweb.com instead of ftpxx.powweb.com, where xx is the number of the legacy server (and no longer needed)?

Hi Starkers. There is a "File Manager" on your OPS panel. I think it is the default option under Site Tools. It looks like the it's the same as any FTP program, but in my experience, it works differently. So I would suggest going to your OPS panel and seeing what it shows.

For example, if your file permissions got screwed up (which is unlikely but anyway..) a file could disappear from the view of an FTP program, but it will still show up on the OPS panel. (And yes I tested this, and no, I was not testing this on purpose.)

Or, if the OPS file manager is where you are not seeing your files, then the problem could be that you don't own the folder. On whatever way that you can see the folder, see if you can change the permissions on it (the chmod option).

(When you say "when I go to log into ftp,", I don't know which of these two you are doing.)

And like Keith said, make sure you are FTP'ing to your new website.

I tried loggin in with just ftp.powweb.com instead of the old ftp10 address, however the guy who installed the site was able to get in on the ftp10.powweb.com address both through web based ftp and bulletproof ftp. When I said ftp I was talking about bulletproof and webftp, not the file manager.

You still have access to ftp10.powweb.com, however that is not the same as ftp.powweb.com. ftp10.powweb.com is the legacy server, whereas ftp.powweb.com is the new server. Any files uploaded to ftp10.powweb.com server only affect your legacy site, which is no longer accessible (but still exists until the legacy servers are shut down).

cc1030 is perfectly correct. If your site has migrated then the ftp.powweb.com is the only FTP way to access the ftp server that the live files are on. Any other ftp0x.powweb.com access is a waste of time (even if it works) for migrated sites once the flip has taken place, no-one can view those files via http access.
