I created my new site with the help of a consultant at her home. She gave me the site on a CD Rom to load onto my system when I got home. When I did this, the system would not allow me to uncheck "read only." Thus, my site is not available for further work at my home. She is out of town, and I cannot reach her by phone. She told me while we worked on the site that it is possible to copy the site back from the Internet into my FP2002, but she did not tell me how to do this. Does anyone out there know? Can you explain it so a "dummy" can understand it? Also, where can I get a dictionary of the lingo needed to function in this special Cyber world?

The files are read-only on the CD, because they were burnt onto the CD and can't be altered from the CD. You need to copy all the files OFF the CD and on to your hard drive, and then you can work on the files that are on your hard drive.

Thanks, VBman. Are you in Boise?? So am I. I tried copying the files over to the hard drive. That's what my consultant's instructions say to do; however, I cannot find my way around the "read only" instruction. She is home now; her phone line is busy (probably she's online), but when I get through to her, we can probably work this out. She did tell me there is a way to "unpublish" or to reverse (copy) the site back to my FP. Thanks for trying!

You need to go in and physically change the read-only attribute. It's real simple. Select the files in Windows Explorer. Right-click one of the files (making sure that ALL of them are still selected) and choose Properties. At the bottom of the window that pops up you'll see "Atributes". Uncheck the box next to Read-Only and you're all set.

Every time you copy a file from a CD, you have to uncheck the read-only attribute to edit the file (if you want to save the file with the same name, that is).
