Can't install phpShop with the 'Instant Installer'. I've installed countless scripts manually, so I thought I would try the instant non-installer to save some time because I'm not familiar with this particular script. Huh-uh this is what I get:

The following errors occurred:

* Couldn't connect to database: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client
* Validate failed

Application phpShop failed to install successfully.

I know the user/pass is correct because I can login at phpMyAdmin using same.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions before I go waste hours researching another script and trudging through a manual install ?

• I think I remember now why I never used the so-called instant installers in the past & and just did things manually getting to know each script, etc.

Don't use the instant installer.;) If you've the skills, read the manauls and follow on screen instructions. Must scripts have good help sites and provide updates.

Yea I'm sort of above that...I'll attempt it later though. I'm near the end of a manual install of ZenCart now and about to call it quits for the day.

I just thought it would be nice just this once to use the instant installer since I noticed the version is up to date and I could tweak things after.. and get more done in one work session - o well I'll stick to the old tried and true manual install.

Looking at the bright side I'll be in more control of the install, which will suit the perfectionist in me because I'll know where everything is in the future & what's been done to what etc
