Nobody in the world is even close to what we are doing in panflute sales. It's amazing. Sorry you didn't like it.
Into our 8th year on the internet and you are the first person who has given such a criticism. Quite the contrary we get rave reviews and are considered the number one site on the internet for this instrument.
This is the kind of feed back we get from our visitors... we have hundreds of them. I do know what I am doing and we very successful at it.
From one of the worlds top pro panflute players.....

"PS. I think your website is amazing, from the videos, to the music, everything about it is excellent. I do alot of searches, and there is absolutely no site (or store for that matter) that could compare to your level of service, information, quality, and beauty."

If you can't accept the criticism, unfounded or not, then don't ask for a review! Your site may well be popular with pan-flute enthusiasts, but when I surf I hit many different sites out of curiousity. If the site loads slowly, for whatever reason, I don't stay. If it plays music without asking, I don't stay and I'm sure a number of others are the same.
If you only want to target enthusiasts and forcing the music on them is OK by them, then fine, but don't expect many non-enthusiasts to stay or return.
I hate flash intros that start before I have an option to turn them off, and similarly hate forced music, so Keyplyr isn't alone.
One of the keys to a successful site is to know your audience and I do. Unless you were interested you would never come to my site. The people who do, are blown away by it. Forced music, how absurd. You don't come to my site listening to something else, you come to my site to listen. My site is all about the music... and there is alot of it to listen to.
People become enthusiasts because they have been to either my pan-flute.com or my shop at panflute.net
I have personally started over 700 new students on the panflute.
Excuse my French but you really don't know what you are talking about. What is a ridiculous way to judge a site. You don't even look at the content??? Most people are not like you two guys... believe me. You have your own issues about websites. You are way too close to the subject... the average person does NOT think that way. They love the site. I am not the one saying it... the public is.
Would you mind sales like this from a $10 a month site? And this is my slow period before Christmas. Is it just possible I could be doing something right??? It never slows down and in fact I am not sure how busy I want to get. I am simi-retired and don't want to work full time :).
http://panflute.net/two-months/
I didn't put my site here because I needed help to make it work. I put it here to share it, I am very proud of it, and for people to see how to have a success with a website. That is not an opinion... it is an actual fact.
Aloha... brad
I, like many web surfers, do not care to have anyone else's sound files of whatever type invade my computer. I like to always have the choice to hear the music or not. I, like many web surfers, immediately close any site that delays in loading because of large images, animations, flash, splash, swish, or music files. I do not go to sites that i KNOW autoload music. Oh yeah, i like music, and am especially fond of flutes. But i like to choose when to hear them. Please give me that choice.
Well if you like flutes you will love my site. But don't go because you might get a 10 sec snippet on a single intro page. Other than that there are hours of free music, videos and all kinds of fun stuff. Believe me people love it.
How many seconds do you think the opening is.... 4 maybe? You are not forced to even stay there you can click to enter right away if its too terrible for you. Come on you guys are being silly. You tell me if this is so horrible.
http://pan-flute.com
I want to thank you guys... All this time I thought I had a great site. But I guess I've been wrong. I am always at the top of most any search engine, I only get some 5-6 thousand visitors a months and my sales from my website only bring in between $4000-$6000 per month in income. I receive hundreds of wonderful letters, big features on International Television shows like the BBC and in newspapers. My panflute forum has only about 700 members from around the world and only around 700 new players who took up the instrument because of my introduction.
All kinds of links from sites; http://tinyurl.com/yc5vfw
But you all have told how web surfers would never tolerate and never visit such a site like mine. So I guess its a failure.
Except I happen to have one of the best music sites in the world. I'll just have to live with that.

For the record, I agree that you should give the users the option of hearing the music. However, people visiting your site know usually will know what it's about and therefore probably won't object to it.
That being said, I wouldn't worry too much about it. If you're happy with the site, and it accompishes everything you need/want it to, then it's a success. Don't the let the over-anal negativity get to you.
I never said your site was terrible, or good. I know it autoplays music, so i did not go. And i am glad you think you have one of the best music sites in the world. Self-satisfaction is what life is all about. And i am likewise glad you are single-handedly responsible for the vast popularity of the pan-flute. I just happen to prefer those sites that give me the choice to hear music or not, respecting my mood of the moment. Even if you love dogs, how would YOU feel about going to a site that that barked at you just for going there?
That is so kind of you.... my music sounds to you like a barking dog.
What I said is, and this is fact, my site was the first panflute site on the internet... and it is generally thought by panflute people as the best in the world. I've sold just under a million recordings internationally and that brings in many fans. Search in Amazon, iTunes, any online music service and you will find my recording I have letters and emails about how well loved my site is... and how important it is to them. None of this has anything to do with my opinion. The sales figures, the letters, the top ranking and links.. the features done on the site.
I am sorry if this doesn't fit your personal theory of what will work :( Most people would dream of having a website that is as successful as mine. As I was dinking around with you negative people my little website brought in $325. I expect it will do something like that tomorrow. While I enjoy a movie or something :)
Charon,
You don't know what it has, since you never took a chance to see for yourself. That is very closed minded. I think you just are determined not to like it... so you can be right.
This entire big deal is all about a maybe 5 second and perhaps a 56k flash opening... 56k, and for that you wouldn't look at it. Do you realize how silly that sounds? The music is a very gentle fade-in solo panflute with a little wind sound. Very peacefull. It last a few seconds, there is a little graphic presentation of what you can find on my site, and its over.
http://pan-flute.com
You must be blind if you can't see the beauty of my site. Take off your green glasses and see something alive and in color.
First It works perfectly on every platform and every browser....It is tested constantly. Nobody has ever had a problem with it. You didn't have a problem with it either. You are determined, I can see that to find something. It just kills you my site is so successful, doesn't it? And so creative compared with your all green dull site. You have some good info, but how very dull, not creative at all. Strictly by the numbers.
You might learn a few things if you spend some time looking through everything. You might learn how to make a site exciting and fun. If you get off your high horse for a moment.
Did you happen to notice all the amzaing things I have on that site? Did you watch the animated history, look and listen to all the instruments, watch any of the beautiful movies and music and on and on. There is something nice on every page. Did you click on the history page and see what I did with the java tool tips?

I am going to share something I played on panflute with you... very simple and pure. Panflute and Piano.
There is a story behind the song you might want to read it,

I am just a guy who makes music on wooden flutes, who's created a couple of sites that most people seem to like. I try to do my best at all times. I am devoted to music, art and expressing yourself.
