How long does it take to have the domain available and registered and ready for uploading via FTP?

I signed up yesterday with a new account (well, a customer of mine did) and the OPS says everything is active, however, I can't connect to the FTP because it says it can't resolve host name. I'm assuming that means that Network Solutions or whoever handles domain requests hasn't updated the DNS yet? How long is this going to take?

Try connecting with servername.powweb.com instead of using your domain name.

Also I did a whois lookup and that name says it's available.

Cool, that works. I'm so used to my own server 'mars'. It's like old and nothing on it works the same as all of the new ones. Like, for instance, the host name I put in to connect to the ftp for www.xinil.net is: xinil.net. Odd. :)
