Hi there....

Ive been putting-off getting a domain name for months..
& finally I did, - after seeing the URL of Powweb last night & checking it out - it seems to fit my Needs & tonight I registered a new domain & hosting - on Powweb..

Q1) In the help pages on the site, it mentioned a "temporary" website URL I can use.. However the email I got didnt mention anything..

eg :- http://domaincom.powweb.com

Is this correct - Or am I getting the wrong end of the stick ?
I tried what I thought my 'temporary URL would be, but no luck either :-(

Q2) Website says it may take up to 72 hours etc.. & I'll get a phone call to confirm the registration.

I'm in New Zealand, & I think Powweb is in the PST time zone (??) which I think is 19 hours behind NZ time..

Will they / Do they normally email you to arrange a time to be home ? As I get home at around 8-9 p.m. - & thats around 11-12 (midnight) PST time (i think)

A phone call?

You should get two e-mails: "Welcome to PowWeb Hosting" and "Package Setup : yourdomain.com"

The first tells you how to log into OPS (ops.powweb.com) and the second gives you the meat of your domain info. The temporary URL, where to FTP, etc.

If you've only gotten the first and haven't received the second after a few hours, you may want first see if you can log into OPS. When there, look for a tab called "History". That will tell give you the e-mails that have been sent to you regarding your account.

If there's listed there, you may want to send an e-mail to billing@powweb.com to see if there were any issues.

Nope, I think I registered it at around 11:40 P.m. (my time) - Not sure - Its only 12:25 a.m. here...

Ive got the Welcome one, But I havnt got the set-up one..

I'll wait a few hours (I normally go to bed at 5-6 a.m. on weekends anyway - plenty of time ;-) )

Thanks - I *can* get into the ops section.. So I think everything is working Ok.. - I'll just wait a few hours & see if the 2nd email comes. - If not here tomorow, I'll email That person you mentioned .. But I dont expect things much today / tomorow / whatever its early Sunday morning here - So must be around Saturday sometime wherever the servers are kept..

Thanks for the explanation..

The automated set up process theoretically takes about 30 minutes or so. Sometimes it hits a snag and I think I've heard folks say it's taken x hours to get unsnarled and finish up.

Lessee .. NZ is GMT+11? 12? I'd say that if you haven't seen it by 3am local time, in OPS, check to see what the account balance is at that time. If it's still showing an amount due, go ahead and send off an e-mail to billing@powweb.com. I think Winnie checks in every now and then when she's off the clock (but wouldn't blame her if she didn't!).

Also, if you've definitely not received the package set up info by the time you get up later this morning and if you're account balance is showing $0.00, you may want to send an e-mail to support@powweb.com. They can jump-start the account setup process to finish up if needed.

Cheers!
