Hi there..

My Account at powweb has been created Ok - All i'm waiting for now is my domain to be activated (I know it takes a day or so..)

QUESTION..

My home-directory is :-

blahblah/gorstew - & I can FTP into it quite fine - All the directories are created etc...

Now, Ive created a 2nd user - they are ACTIVE, & Ive added them to the FTP section with the home-page of

blahblah/gorstew/htdocs

Now - I Want them to *only* have access to the html section of the site - No CGI access or anything....

However Ive loaded the settings into my FTP programme, & tried it, but Ive got Access to ALL directories - The same as if I were logging in under the master FTP...

How can I make it so theyve only got access to the htdocs areas ?

No rush - I'm off to bed now - I think ? - I said that 2-3 hours ago.. but im still up...

OK, ok ...

So even when you've assigned the user to a particular directory, they're able to get above that and perform file manipulation? Upload/download/CHMOD/delete/rename?

Yep - When I log-in as the user,. I start-off in the 'top' most directory - IE, I can see the CGI-bin, Logs etc...

Ive tried to upload to the cgi directory & it allowed me to, & to delete the file too...

Q. Is this function supposed to be "instant" - Or take a few hours etc - Like the other parts of the registration ?

Nope, this is pretty much done when you submit the form in OPS.

Let me give it a go on one of my sites. Be back in a few :)

Hmm. Didn't have a problem.

What I did:
took a user and assigned it to /htdocs/directory. Waited a few minutes. Logged in. Locked into that directory.

Reset home directory to /directory. Waited a few. Logged in. Couldn't move ('directory' is non-existant').

Key to both was the "waited a few".

Try the user again and see if it still has full privileges.

Sorry, It didnt work for me - I "waited a bit" - 2, 5 etc. minutes..

& renamed / Created subdirectories etc.. & still had full access... :-(

I think this time I may want to contact support bout it :-(

- Anyway, im starting to yawn - gotta go to bed now...

Catch you later & thanks for the help today - on this & other topics.. - Be up in 6-7 hours or so & try again...

Sort of :-

http://forum.powweb.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7180

Posted a qiuestion ion the HTML forum..

Basically I'm usimg SSI in my files.. & its working..

When i "view source" - All the HTML is there - But only half of its showing up on the screen (some / not all of the included files)

The url is http://kwistercom.poiwweb.com

I see only 1 SSI include file on the screen (top)..

But no worries - I expected some probs when changing domains etc..

The Kwister graphic/banner? If so, it's showing up, albeit 6 1/2 hours later...

Ive fixed that problem - It was - i was using a "news service" - & their server was putting incorrect tags on the screen - Which made my page not display correctly...

Is my picture too big / slow ?

when i view it, Its the 1st thing to pop up ;-)

Ok - Ive got 1 more question, will start another thread ;-)
