New User: FTP Issues

I opened my account on July 30. Everything says I'm up and running. I can access the placeholder via HTTP. However,

I FTP into the site. While trying to SSH into the site, I receive the message that "this account is currently not available"

While using Interarchy (a Mac FTP Client) it logs on, then seems to hang on the PORT command.

Any suggestions and/or ideas on how to log on?

Powweb does not support SSH. You need to use a product like WS FTP or CuteFTP (I like wsftp le which is free if you tell it you are using it for personal use!). You can find out more about FTP by going to http://www.powweb.com/faqs/?category=FTP

SSH is not supported at PowWeb.

If you are behind a firewall, try setting your FTP client to use Passive (PASV) mode.

OK, I switched to TelNet. I am now getting a message that says "Host or Gateway not Responsding - FTP.nevadaconcernedcitizens.org"

Now what?

Telnet is not supported either. Only FTP. Try setting your FTP client to PASV mode.

If you are trying to use tar or gzip, you'll need one of the many available file management tools available on the 'net.
