just had a dumb simple question...

i wanna submit my page to big search engines like yahoo, google, etc etc. i did the meta tag thing, and submitted it in the resources.powweb.com site, but i want it on the big search engines. question is, how??? thanks ! =)

First of all, it usually takes quite some time for all of the search engine sites to process submissions. I've seen it estimated in periods of 1-2 months. That's just to get considered for listing. Then your site gets evaluated by each search engine's criteria for qualifying to be listed... and each one is a little different. You can do some simple things to help your site get listed and ranked in addition to META tags. Getting other sites to link to yours is the best thing you can do. All search engines rely heavily on the number of other sites that link to yours in judging. Write to webmasters of other sites related to yours and offer to exchange links. Obviously, this means you'll need to dedicate a part of your site to linking to other sites. Wherever you put these reciprocal links on your site, make sure you have it accessible from your index.html page so the search engine spiders will see it when your site is scanned. Most of the articles I've read on this subject seem to recommend regularly re-submitting your site to the search engines every month or two. That's probably a good idea, too. Good luck!

you edon't need to resubmit your site every 1-2 months.

Google will get your site even if you don't submit but still I would recommend that you submit it once...google comes back every now and then to check the contents!!

Besides reciprocal links, one thing that really surprised me and allowed me to gain access to the Big Boy Search Engines is message boards and photo sites I have poped in to help promote. In my case it has to do with Hawaiian Music so every open forum/message board I could find I tried in a subtle way to promote my website and the music. Lo and Behold Google, MSN, Yahoo all picked up on each entry and more and more listings took place automatically, I didn't have to submit except for the initial one. The spiders are constantly in my site, I can tell due to the invisible counter that registers IP address. Also your webstats will show you a rundown on who and when they attack! It's very simple you just have to have your meta tags, and key words done. Don't be afraid to load up on the keywords, you'd be surprised what works.
(secret here, embed in each page you want highly visible or really want listed) for instance entire web and all the web has 77 entries for my website.
