View Full Version : A few questions about osCommerce...

Hi guys, I'm building an oscommerce site right now. It's on a windows server but I've managed to get it all set up now as a basic catalogue. I've changed the header image and added some products. I've just had a few enquiries if the following is possible with osCommerce (and I would be grateful if someone could point me in the right direction and let me know if these requests are easily set up or if it's going to take some time!)

The website is going to sell wholesale jewellery. The customer has asked if it will be possible to set up the site so that the product prices will NOT appear unless the user is logged in. Is this possible? If so, how would I go about it?

The owner of the company also wishes to run a quick check on users to check that they represent genuine companies before their account is activated. Will it be possible to forward all the details for new user accounts to an email address, and set the osCommerce system so that users cannot log in until their account has been activated by the owner? I had mentioned this a long time ago on this site and was told I could get a plugin for osCommerce that would do this?

Also, the owner wishes to discourage users from ordering small amounts of product, since it is a wholesale website. The way he wants to do this is to charge much more for postage on orders of under £75 ($40). How can I set a rule so that, if the order is under £75 ($40), it will get a set postage/shipping rate?

Finally I was just wondering if it takes long to set osCommerce up with paypal? I take it this is the fastest and easiest way to take payments, and avoids the need for secure connections on the osCommerce site itself (?)

Sincere thanks for ANY help people can give me on this.

Cheers.
