I think I have an ip address problem because my site comes up everywhere except on my computer. Can anyone help me fix it?

what operating system do you have...what IE or Netscape version do you have?

I would suggest you to upgrade everything!

If you have a cable/dsl modem...that could be the problem.

Got one??

I am using IE 6 and Netscape 4.7. I already tried that Netscape 6 and I hated it. I like IE6.

IE6 should not be a problem.

Have you tried clearing all the History from Tools > Internet Options?

Sorry...was looking around your site...

www.partyworld.net has a lot of crap in the source code. You have pages and pages of fonts that don't even exist.

Might wanna take a look at it:)

Also go to 'Tools'...'Internet Options'...under Temporary Internet files 'Delete Files'...

You can delete all offline content too.

Good Luck:)

Yes, I did that today. I deleted all the cookies and history files and temp. files and I still have the problem.

When in doubt...reboot.

Have you done that??

Are you using a local ISP...or a big one (MSN, AOL)?? Sometimes ISPs don't update their DNS info alot. They keep DNS info in cache so they don't have to access it everytime.

I have rebooted today. I reboot alot...I am working on a notebook for this particular site and take my computer everywhere, home and work.

Yes, I use a local ISP. I will ask them to help me out. I was not sure where the problem would be until now. I hope this works. Thank you for helping me!

Thats your problem...

If its local...they probably don't update their DNS info frequently. Ask them to do it...or when they plan to do it. Everything should be fine after that.

What do you mean by comes up everywhere? what is everywhere.
If you mean it comes up as in it works when you are using someone elses computer and not on yours then, it depends.

If you use cable or your domain points to an IP that you are connected to, then you will not see it,

But if someone is hosting it for you, check your hosts file in your system.
Do a search for hosts with no extension, and make sure that the domain is properly set. If you do not use or edit it at all, just delete the hosts file,
It's usually located on your C:windows

sorry, disregard my suggestion about cable/dsl, I just saw you post on saying that you are on dial up.

Yeah, just delete those hosts files..

or try this. ping your website from a computer which finds your site, most likely it's lunar or one of the powweb servers,

see what it shows you, because from our side it should point to lunar which is 64.63.125.72

if it points to something else, then you better check the hosts file

remember it has no extension, open the hosts file and type this in

yourdomain.com 64.63.125.72

or
lunar.powweb.com 64.63.125.72

this will make sure your browser routes it to that IP

I hope this makes sense.

I hooked my computer up to a Network system and I was able to view my site on my computer. When I dialed up I was unable. They said they would refresh their files withing 20 minutes. I waited another day. (I was thinking maybe it is something else) But I called them again and I waited another day. I finally emailed them a complaint explaining that I did not think they had refreshed the files for me and within a couple of hours it was fixed.

I realize how necessary it is in this field to have MANY computers to trouble shoot problems. Well anyway, thank you and everyone else who helped me figure out what was wrong with my site. I AM BACK IN BUSINESS! :)
