Files or directories above or at the same level as htdocs cannot be directly accessible thru a browser. Scripts at or below htdocs can access these files and/or directories, and they are also FTP accessible no matter where they are located

Add On Domains. I only registerd a new domain today. With every past hosters it was very easy to AddOn two or more domains.

I added on two more domains here but all 3 have the same info. Your home page says, "host unlimited domains." But it does not say anywhere that I have to buy extra software or tools.

It this a gimmick to make me buy extra tools or software or can I really host unlimited domains? What is the catch when there is no information in your KB about Add On Domains ?

Can you remommend a web hoster? One that allows you to host several domains?

It seems this htaccess is difficult for a beginner. I have no idea how to edit the file.

I was using Bluehost and when you addon a domain it creates what you need. If you add a subdomain it creates a subfolder.

You never have to use / edit / the htaccess files. I hate to spend $29.00 more for more multiple doman mapping software. Which web hoster are you using now that does not require the purchase of mapping software nor the school of htaccess ?

I'm using Powweb. They allow you to host different domains.

Go to www.google.com and search for B&T's Tips & Scripts. That site shows you how to work with htacess files.

It would be a safe bet that people posting here are using PowWeb considering this is PowWeb's customer forum.

I am using Powweb! (even to host multiple domains.)
.htaccess isn't that hard, there are lots of examples on how to do it in the .htaccess forum.

As others have said, using .htaccess isn't hard.

If you get stuck then ask in the forums, someone will assist you. You can really host as many domains as you wish, you get plenty of space 300Gb, plenty of Bandwidth 3000Gb and 75 MySql databases. All you've got to do is work out how to use .htaccess and create the content.
