View Full Version : Powweb Cache problem ?
Hi,
I posted a while ago re a "no input specified" problem - Which is now FIXED..
- My site is up & running again...
However - another problem - does Powweb "cache" websites ??
Im uploading a new page (replace an existing page) - Ive cleared my cache & pressed "refresh" a dozen times... & uploaded a dozen times (when I download the page from the server via FTP - it shows the NEW page..
However no matter what I do, my browser sees the OLD page..
Does Powweb cache sites ???
PS..
I cant work =- without seeing "instant" changes on my site - am I supposed to wait 30-60 minutes each time I want to see anupdated change ? (I havnt timed it as yet - Because my 1st change hasnt appeared as yet - 15+ minutes)

Your ISP and local computer cache the page, Powweb only keep the live hard copy and some backups for you. If the FTP server says it's there it is. Try Ctrl+F5 in your browser to force a full page reload.
Ive refreshed - Cleared the cache - & refreshed again - (a dozen times)....
Do you see "Group" on the top left ?? - If so - Thats the OLD site

Yes I see; GROUP - 'aucklandfreecycle'
Being php I'd let the new page sit there for awhile, as php is run as CGI here. I'm not sure what the server refresh rate is. If it's there on ur FTP.. could it be your FTP program caching? I've had that problem with Filezilla occasionaly.
:Edit: Now centered it says; (Freecycle group moderators - Click here for more information)
MY PC rebooted (other problems)
I uploaded again, & now its updated (I wonder how / why the FTP programmes cache things - it defeats the purpose...)
One problem that I've had with different FTP programs is that even if I've told it to 'overwrite' the existing file, it doesn't. If you have this problem again, I'd suggest deleting the online copy and then upload the new version.
