I see Powweb has found a way to solve the SQL problems :D

Make the problem go away !!!

Delete all posts about the problems, and then there will appear to be no problems

My only surprise it that it has taken the 6 months to come up with this solution.

Or delete posts such as the above that add nothing to the forum in any way, shape or form like your previous ones?

They are upgrading mysql and doing other things, but customers have to make changes, too. Some people are making poor decisions and using too many resources.

My parents live somewhere where they only allow 3 cars per residence, because there isn't enough parking spaces, especially when people have visitors. Maybe some people have more cars (CMS websites) parked at one residence (account) than they should.

How many posts have been deleted?

Seems to me the ones that add to the conversation and aren't just down right nasty and rude are left. Many of them are MOVED to the correct forum, but at least when I have been watching the forums I haven't seen many disappear.

.. customers have to make changes, too.

I know of a few WordPress installs here that are still not upgraded. Without regard for server resource usage (which is claimed to be much better,) that is a risky thing to ignore. If I just picked that up in passing, you could be a target on google next month.

WordPress and a few other CMS have been targets for exploitation lately. Watch for strange files in your directory.

Also, if you have forums or blogs that make many daily changes to your database, you should routinely make backups, optimize and repair tables. It is like defragmenting your hard drive for better performance. You should delete outdated or unnecessary data from your hard drive just as you would delete files from your computer.

It's interesting though that with all my problems with slowness on my forum due to this mySQL issue, that somehow this support forum runs super fast....

Hmm.......

somehow this support forum runs super fast....

This forum, along with their main site are mission critical for them so why would they run it on a shared host server? That doesn't even make sense. If your site is mission critical to you and you depend on the income you should NEVER be on a shared host.

On a shared host I expect some down time, it is the nature of paying what we pay here for hosting. However, I also expect a host to ONLY have down time here and there, not for a month straight. I just don't know what we can do to convince PowWeb that this is killing us.

I just don't know what we can do to convince PowWeb that this is killing us.A mass exodus.

Most posts/threads about the current batch of Outages because of MySql problems (and CGI problems before that) are moved to the User Reported Outages/Problems forum.

A lot of discussion goes on about the issue even though most now know that Powweb knows there is a problem and is attempting to resolve it. It's still useful to see 'me too' reports so that customers know they're not the only ones with an issue and it isn't totally site related. (Sometimes it is, sometimes the site could be improved in efficiency and sometimes it is a problem on Powweb MySql servers.)

Once the conversation has rambled enough the thread is closed. After one week it is archived as per the policy stated in a 'read me' (which of course you all did :D)
