Hi all ... whilst I go chasing possible gremlins ... is anyone experiencing any FTP issues at present. I'm getting "No space left on device" returns from the server on FTP uploads ... via various FTP programs. Nothing's changed at my end that I'm aware of. And, I've only used a couple percent of space allocations. Cheers, Bob.

I am getting the exact same thing. I can't FTP up a file or send it up using the OPS File Manager.

Will the problems never end?

I just FTP'd 2 files one about 30k and another 900k and they both uploaded without trouble using CuteFTP.

Yes ... it\s intermittent. I made a css change this morning and filename saved but the whole contents of the file didn't save. AND ... it wouldn't restore from backup (OPS). Luckily I managed to restore it by keeping trying manually with a different FTP prog until I got it to hold. I use Crimson Editor as my code editor and it has in-built FTP. Have used d it for 4 years and flawless ... and I know it's quirks intimately ... so knew that wasn't the issue.

BUT, be very careful ... because ... I had a couple of events where I uploaded one file ... and the contents of another file got wiped. I guess I'll raise a ticket with Powweb shortly if I don't see any unifrom successes.

For what it's worth ... I just posted a support query. So, will advise when a response comes. I'm doing some check uploads at intervals and still getting about 3 out of 4 failures. So, can't do any work at present because of the 'wiping other files' possibility.

I just uploaded over a meg of data to one of my sites. It went nice and smooth. No errors.

And also please follow the sage advice of the resident jazz man. :)

Thanks Doc C ... already lodged a query with support ... waiting for a response. But I just got 4/4 uploads successful ... so, I guess they may have jumped on it ... which is good ... and quick.

Just for the sake of completeness ... following is the response I got back from support. Everything appears to be normal again. Cheers, Bob.

probably some heavy user uploads exhausted the temporary FTP storage area -- they usually bump it up a bit to correct the error being reported ... (the space is there ... just not available to the FTP clients)

Ahhh - ha ...thx ... suspected something like that ... hence the intermittency of upload denials

Anyone having problems today? I seem to be able to login, but then I get a socket disconnect error after it attempts to get the directory listing on the server. The OPS interface seems to work except that I'm trying to upload a file that is not "allowed" by their FTP filters. Any FTP client seems to do the same thing - and FWIW, the FTP section of OPS tells me that I'm logging in ok....so something else is awry....

I've just checked my 2 accounts and can FTP upload and list files OK.

Have you updated Firewall software (even automatically?) that may have altered a setting?

Dude stop blaming customers for server problems.

And yep today i got them same socket disconnects a few times today not long ago. Though I got right back in and finishes what I wanted.

Just cause thing work for you don't mean it does for the rest of us.
If I was a mod I bet my stuff would work flawless too.
Just like I bet every powweb employees site works flawless 24/7

My indication that it works wasn't meant to indicate others worked. The question was do you have a problem, my answer is "no, mine works".

As for Mods having different locations for sites and other access to the rest of the customers, you're totally off beam with that. We've got the same issues as everyone else because we've got the same systems as everyone else. Difference is, you don't see Mods jumping up and down here when they know it won't change anything.

Hi viragotech ... I started this thread several days ago. The issues that were evident then ... as far as I could see were corrected fairly promptly by PowWeb. I don't have any problem with FTP right now either.

But, more importantly, whilst it's good for community members to be able to interact and share views etc ... it would be really good if that interaction occurred with some manners and respect ... which is the case MOST of the time. IanS has provided a LOT of people with a LOT of assistance in this forum ... just like a LOT of other forum members ... and, in fact ... some PowWeb staffers who do frequent this forum. I find it rather unpleasant that your message was full of, what come across as, anger and attack towards a 'person' ... especially so early in your thread of communication. Please show a bit of respect, eh .... it's not about 'freedom of speech'.

Bob.

Thanks for the response IanS - I still am having the problem, but it is with a machine I haven't used in many months. I double-checked my firewall settings and it's turned off...it's a weird problem if you ask me though - to be able to connect, but not be able to get a directory listing....if anyone has any other ideas, I'd be grateful! Thanks...

-Mike
