View Full Version : Please Critique - Sitedelux site
Hello,
It took me 2 months to lauch this site from start to finish. I had to learn how to create a website first, so this is why I chose to use sitedelux for the ease to create. I read all the bad things about this program, but I found it to be very useful. I used just about all of the features provided by this site and other out side features as well.
However, you are the experts and I would really appreciate your comments. I am sort of a perfectionist and I have be updating my site everyday, until this morning I decided to lauch it and hope that you all can reveiw quickly and send me any feedback good or bad.
I want my site to look as pofessional as possible.
My website is www.interviewme.org. I have not annouced my site yet, so it might not show on the major search sites.
Thank you in advance for your feedback.

As the site was constructed with Sitedeluxe, fixing the error may not be a simple matter. The coding issues are produced by Sitedeluxe. But give it a go and use the validator.
Think carefully about the physical size (how many bytes) of a picture. Some a quite big and took quite a long time to load. This is OK for scenic images where you're showing off your camera skills, but isn't ideal when you're using stock clipart.
On the 'Our Services' page you've green text which is underlined - this looks like a link. It isn't a link. Avoid underlining text for this reason. Make it bold, italic but not underlined.
Run the text through a spell checker. It looks less than perfect or professional when you can't even correctly spell or type the word 'Interview' for the silver and gold plans!
Also, why so many plans - very confusing.
The small image on the 'Future services' page took too long to display - it's far too big with 607212 bytes. Use a graphics program to shrink the filesize if you can't find a smaller image.
Thanks you for your reply. I am still a newbie to web design. I am working on your changes as we speak. Thanks for your feedback.
Thanks for the comments. I will make the corrections. I created so many plans to make it affordable for anyone that views my site. I was looking at this from a recruiter point. I work with all levels of clients as a professional recruiter and these options seems to fit every level.
Hello,
This site http://interviewme.org is to help job seekers to be prepare to interview. I am looking for feedback and questions for my FAQ sections.
I used sitedelux to build this site, since I am very new at creating a website.
All comments are welcome.
Thank you.
On your services page, the resume pet peeves appears to have been saved on your site with a html extension. When clicked, it just opened the file, which of course was the code itself. I downloaded it using a pdf extension and it opened fine. Might check that.
All pages ought to have a copyright at the bottom.
The FAQ page should have at least two or three "seed" questions/answers.
Back to the services page, I think I would center the service levels and prices in the table cells (that's just my personal preference :D)
Like the look of the site.

Why did you open a new thread for the same site?
phlembol is right.
I have merged the two threads. Please don't open a new thread to re-review a site, add on to the existing one that you've made changes.
That's why I couldn't find the other one :D
My bad. I was watching the Twilight Zone marathon, saw phlembol's post and merged them. :D

The upper-left image looks distorted and doesn't fit in very well. You might want to consider styling the banner area a bit, just to make it more interesting (also, you have kind of a lot of a empty space up there you could do something with). I suggest getting rid of the guestbook and hitcounter, as they aren't professional. You might also consider styling the nav differently (something just feels weird about it, I can't quite tell what), but it's not really important.

The site builder makes lousy code that can be a pain to edit. Most of the errors found by the validator are related to the improper placement of FONT tags. I didn't even check the validator, but I can see it when I view the source code.
The page would look better if it appeared in the center instead of the left. The links on the left are tiny. The image in the upper left corner is distorted. The font style is inconsistent.
The guestbook looks like a great source for spammers. I just posted a test to the guestbook. There is no visible antispam techniques here. Consider form validators. Spammers won't post their own email addresses. You may want to make the choice of displayed or hidden email addresses to prevent your posters from getting spammed.
A "back to top of page" link is nice for pages that scroll quite a bit vertically. I noticed links at the bottom of the page, but there is no copyright information at the bottom. All websites should include copyright information, especially business websites.
A professional logo would help the website. The design is simple, but rather bland. It doesn't have any unique qualities. That is important to differentiate your website from all the others on the Internet.
I am sort of a perfectionist
So am I. I can be picky, but any comments are constructive to strive to improve. Now that you have your contents organized, you can make the site more consistent, attractive and professional.
I love that I am a member of Powweb. This forum is the best!
Thank you all for your feedbacks. I really appreciate it. I will try to make all the necessary changes that I can with me being a newbie to website creation.
Again thanks, so much and I will continue to try to improve the site.:D
My mistake. Still learning how to post!
