I notice a file in my home directory with the filename .membership. Can someone explain to me what this file is for and where it comes from? I notice the file first after the upgrades but whas thinking that it whas put there by powweb. I can't download or view the file.

This file could be from many different packages. Have you recently installed a forum or other package on your account?

I haven't got one, so it's unlikely Powweb put it there. If you've not installed anything (or updated) then contact support.

Some times comparing the date of the file to others can help determine what added it.

It is a control file that might be present on any account -- the file should generally not be visible -- it is possible that someone performed a permissions adjustment on the root directory (perhaps at the time of the migration) of your account and that is why the file is now showing...

Problem solved - Powweb did put it there.

Still a mystery as to why it suddenly becomes visible (if that's what happened). Was it visible previously?

Thanks for the answers. No, in my case it wasn't visible before. I notice it just a couple of weeks ago after i used an ftp program.
