View Full Version : Video Streaming Scripts

Hello all,
I just wanted to ask a quick question: I would like to put up a video streaming portion of my website where I can post video clips (100% mine, of course!). I would be the only person uploading clips and would like to have new account creation suspended, but not removed. The video clips I would like to have re-encoded into Flash for the streaming portion through an embeded player.

My situation is that I am not sure which free script to use! I know dozens of scripts online, but no one has reviewed them. I am instead turning to the powweb community to see what everyone else uses.

If anyone can give me some suggestions for some scripts, I would really appreciate it!

[Just a side note: if the script's webpage tables are small enough (width), I'd like to have it iFramed to an html page on my site.]

I should probably make a comment, yes, I know streaming requires a separate server. I don't exactly have a separate server, but what I am looking for is a way to have playlists/logs/categories; like a photo gallery, but with video clips, preferably loading in flash player.

Interesting... but I need something for video and a bit more... organized, somewhat like a photo gallery script.

Sorry, I should have said it. I know it WAS for video as all the tutorial did was create a list of media clips, not necessarily audio. I was just looking for something more... organized... But if it comes down to it, I may be just using that tutorial you gave me above.

If you want to use wordpress, try coolplayer wordpress plugin or wordtube plugin...

This does no "organization", but, it will play most formats in WordPress.

Use Jamroom:

I doubt there is anything better out there, audio, video, pictures, it does it all!

I'm sorry to say that Jamroom does not work well with Powweb. It takes up to 4-5 minutes for the music to stream because there are too many clients on each server. Powweb offer the space and a great price for hosting but they need to work on setting up more servers to solve the streaming problem.
