View Full Version : Fixing the Glitches
Hi:
I'm grateful for the help I received for uploading and got it up BUT now the glitches are revealed.
I have hyperlinks to send me an email at my compuserve email address. How can I make that work. How can an automatic blank email come up to be sent to me??? (I built this in Front Page 2000.)
Next, my FP extensions for the forms are not working as they need to be emailed to me at my cs email address (how is this possible?).
The FP "Submit" button at bottom of feedback form doesn't do anything as it needs connection to url (email address in this case).
Thanks in advance for your help.
Warmly, Sharon
- FP usually know when you want it to open a blank email .... in case it doesn't you can create a Hyperlink and enter:
mailto:youraddress@compuserve.com
concerning the form:
- go into Form properties ( this can be acieved by right-clicking anywhere inside the form and selecting Form Properties)
- make sure that the radio button "send to" is selected
- enter the email in the appropriate field
- make sure that all fields are in the Saved Fields Tab
Hope this helps
Dragon (or others):
It seems to me that www.myname.com should go to my general web site (part of cs ourworld), but it doesn't. I was wondering if there's some problem in links between this host and compuserve???
Sharon
 I am not quite sure what you mean... Sharon...
Is www.myname.com supposed to point to the CS site or to the PowWeb site ?
Do you want to link a page on the CS site to the site hosted on PowWeb or vice versa ?
Hyperlinks from one page to another should work without any problems. But it seems that you DNS is not pointed yet ... so just have a little pacience until you domainname works :)
Dear Dragon:
I resolved the link from this new website to my general one on Our world via cs2000 by adding http:\\ before the www.
The problem with the email hyperlinks is the vice versa form in that the hyperlinks to email me at my cs email address does not work from my new powweb site.
I'll be patient as it may be the time it takes at the powweb end, plus I've posted this on the Front Page section of the powweb forum.
Maybe I need to learn more about my email accounts on this site???
Sharon
Concernig your email links....
the link you are using for your email is "http://yourdomain.com/email@cs.com"
which is wrong...
right-click on the link and select hyperlink properties
then instead of "http://yourdomain.com/email@cs.com" enter "mailto:email@cs.com" that should resolve your problem.
Two other considerations:
the <a href="mailto:username@isp.com>whatever</a> link only works if the user has a properly configured mail client. This is not always the case in a world where many folks use web-mail.
If you are using FrontPage extensions, it is best to use *only* the FrontPage "publish" function to place files on the site. I have 'broken' FrontPage extensions by using another FTP client. I *think* there is an option within FrontPage to repair the site, but it's been a while since i've set up a FrontPage site....
The best option is to use a form submitted to formmail, etc., for site feedback (also stops spam robots).
