Greetings,
I've avoided asking this as I feel that the issue is so basic that I'm embarrassed.
I've got two domains here and I've got WordPress as my site on one of them for a blog. I'm using Cyberduck on the mac os to upload my ftp files.
I'm having issues with simply understanding how the files in my account work.
I'm wanting to change my blog to the root directory from the /blog url or point it back to the root. I've attempted to URL redirect and that didn't seem to work.
Also my second domain seems to go to my blog on the first url.
I'm sure that I have issues with file management and understanding of how the files in my account relate to my domains and the hierarchy of the folders and files within my account.
I don't understand how within my account to separate out my two individual domains they seem to be both there. I'm also not understanding where the data bases that I've set up live as to me i can't seem to find them in the folders.
I'm sure that it's simply some basic housekeeping that needs to be done.
What I'm saying I suppose is can some one point me to where I can learn and understand how the roots, folders and files management system work.
Two months ago when I started this I had never heard of any of this so even the most basic info is new knowledge to me.

Well.. when you login with Cyberduck you should see a htdocs folder. Anything you put in there or it's subfolders can be viewed. Eg: htdocs/blog/index.html is viewed via www.domain.com/blog/index.html as the htdocs is invisable to a browser.

When you add a 2nd domian in OPS it will point to your htdocs/index.html by default. You can use the domain pointing tool in OPS to direct a domain to a subfolder.

So 1. You can either point the domain you want to htdocs/blog
Or 2. Copy all files from your blog folder/files keeping their structure to your Mac then upload them back into your htdocs folder, then you need to open and edit the htdocs/config.php to reflect the path changes. You may also need to create a backup of your blog database in OPS and restore it via the blogs admin panel.

Then for your second domain you make a subfolder inside htdocs Eg: htdocs/folder2 In OPS point the second domain name to htdocs/folder2 and upload the second websites files into folder2. Eg: htdocs/folder2/index.html

Thanks Croc Hunter

I've looked carefully at what you have said and because things are a bit different as all things are, I'm afraid that I'm not able to understand the points that your making. I'm sure that it would make perfect sense to anyone else, my knowledge is just too low...
My issues are so small that someone with the skills would be able to do it in a couple of minutes.

I know your in Oz also would you know someone who you could recommend in Brisbane to help me
