View Full Version : Made the switch

After over 2 years with PowWeb, and months of slow/good/slow website speed (due to MySQL), I decided I finally had to bite the bullet and move over to a new web host (no, I won't mention names in this message but if you're interested you can message me).
I must say, other than the slowness of my site (and that's an important issue), that I didn't really have any problems with PowWeb. But again, I'm sure we lost quite a few visitors over the past few months due to the slowness of MySQL (up to 90+ second access times), and it was time to make a switch.

PowWeb fixed the slowness for most people finally. Sorry you couldn't wait long enough for it, but I can't blame you for moving. Best of luck!

I've recently been browsing the forums of several other web hosting companies and they all seem to have problems. May be not the same problems as you've experienced here but I hope it works out for you in any case. ;)

Thanks. I did see the slowness go away for a few days back in August or September, but it's been an up again, down again situation that I couldn't live with. My website focuses on doing a lot of interviews, and it looks really bad when you request an interview when your site won't even load; or, after you've finished the interview, that they inform you that they're getting messages from their fans because they want to read the interview but can't access the site.
Again, it wasn't always slow, but it'd go from a 2 second load to a 40+ second load multiple times a day over the past few months. So far I've been on the new host for a week and haven't seen any slow-down at all. But again, if PowWeb has fixed the problem I'm glad to hear it for all the users that still have sites here.
Sorry to see you go but glad things are working out.
