Hello I am a customer with powweb since Signup Date: 9/27/2002
I have a active site vistronic . com.

I also am web master of several other sites and hosts here and elsewhere ( I am not posturing I just have several alias and am now appearing here as Vis. as I have requested my other accounts here shut down ( I moved them). Anyways....

What is the current status of the mysql with wordpress?

Or is it now policy to delete all mention of mysql? ( as I seen at least one thread removed)
No offence or anything but have things now improved?

peace

Check the user outages forum. While most of us are not observing problems with our CGI or databases, some people are still having intermittent 500 internal server errors. There are people successfully running blogs here, but they probably aren't that busy.

This thread disappeared and now its back go figure.

So Y, the mysql slowness has been resolved? Great

as stated by PW
PowWeb's Load Balanced Hosting Technology (the solution):
PowWeb's hosting solution offers complete true, redundancy from point A to point B. There are multiple paths for your visitor to access your Web site at every given point. We distribute the load of a single Web site across multiple physical servers. If one server goes down, there is no noticeable effect on end users and no downtime.

I have seen my websites load very fast, though php/mysql driven websites may have have an extra moment to load images. Other websites (forums, blogs) have taken a few moments to load. You may see a blank page for a moment or a few moments. Then the page will load. That could be load-balancing taking you from one server to the next or it may be waiting for a database connection. Or you may see the background and watch as the images appear. Still, there is an improvement for most people (or servers).

Another thread discusses a software issue being handled right now.

The MySQL performance scenario is far improved from what it has been at any previous point over the last year and a half...

I'll second that. The MySQL is greatly improved.

I have definitely seen faster load times and less down time for my websites. There are just a few websites still having problems. PowWeb did improvements with phpmyadmin and mysql.

Vis, I know you are wondering if WordPress will work here now. The best answer is to try it and see for yourself. If you cache queries, optimize your database, use anti-spam addons and other methods to manage your website, you may have little or no trouble.

I'm running a small Wordpress site and it's working fine, thank you.

Hello well that is good news.
I will try keeping my site here then per testing...

You know I moved 2 sites to a new host.
Because of the "old" mysql problem.
There is several things I miss about powweb.
The spam filters or software here must work really well because when I moved I got a lot of spam after about a month, the first time in 10 years... I guess I did not apprecate the spam filtering powweb does by default. It works. So that must always be factored in to moving .. I did not think about spam or email when I moved and now I have to setup like 30-50 mail filters at new site and more coming... The funny thing is if you want negative feedback from a clinet let them get spam and everyone is in a uproar!

Also they have a fourm like this.... but little life in it IMHO... many posts are ignored ,read but no posts.

But waiting on mysql for a year was to much something had to be done.

I've been having frequent 500 Internal Server errors of late on one of my domains. I even contacted support and, of course, at that the time they checked the site it was working fine. Within an hour later it was down again for an extended period of time. I don't see any improvements over the last year, just the status quo.

I've now moved another domain to a new host. I only have two more domains with Powweb, but the list is getting shorter. I've been a long time customer, but it's getting harder to stick around.

Please see this thread (http://forums.powweb.com/showthread.php?t=79469) on that problem.

Thank you and have a pleasant tomorrow.
