Hi,
I have a site deluxe website and <<non-Powweb host>> does not offer a shopping cart with inventory control. I am on a shoestring budget- any suggestions? Thanks so much! Val

Hi, Val.

You can use PayPal (free to join) to accept payments online. PayPal hosts their own shopping cart that can easily be integrated with your existing website by adding a few lines of code available on the PayPal website. The source code is basically a form that submits the product information (item number, item description, item quantity, item price) to PayPal.

Read details about taxable items for customers who live in Florida if your business is in Florida. You are responsible for collecting and paying any applicable state tax. If I purchased an item from you, I would not pay tax since I am in PA and not Florida.

Personally, I would NOT use Site Deluxe. I would install a shopping cart such as OScommerce or Zen Cart which can also accept PayPal payments. You can use your existing website until a shopping cart is successfully installed and items are added to the database.

You will have many more features but also more responsibilities. You need to make backups of your website and database and make sure your software is up to date. Using a database allows you to keep track of customers, inventory, sales and more.
