I want to publish to my domain, and need to indicate the url

It is asking for a folder, so I need to create the folder, but do not know how to create it.

Is that something I can do in powweb OPS ? if so how, is there an easier way?

You publish your files to your htdocs folder within the space you've been allocated (unless you're using more than one domain on the account).

You can also publish to USERNAME.powweb.com but... depending on the program you're using to publish with you may find that it hard-codes the powweb.com part and this shows in the address bar.

The information about where to publish your file to is contained within OPS.

Which program are you using to publish?

I am using iWeb on a mac, and publishing using Easy iWeb Publisher

I have a web page, but wanted to see if I could publish to a seperate folder so that I don't cause any changes to my web site. I am trying to play around and thought I could use iWeb to create a personal/family site. Without distrupting the site I already have.

I'm a PC person so don't know iWeb.

I would try saving the file locally and then using an FTP program to upload rather than use a 'publish' option. You could then use the FTP program to create a folder inside htdocs and look at it using www.yourdomain.com/newfoldername/filename.htm or something similar.

that is essentially what I want to do. the only issue is that I do not know how to create a folder inside htdocs, and do not have a seperate ftp program and thought there was likely a way to do it from OPS

The filemanager (http://ops.powweb.com/member/filemanager.bml) within OPS will allow you to create folders (afer logging in first). The filemanager restricts the type of files you can upload so getting an FTP program is going to be very helpful. I can't recommend a one for the Mac (as I said, I'm a PC user), but you may also be able to use your browser. Try ftp://ftp.powweb.com into your browser and then the username/password for a FTP user. It works on a PC so may on a Mac.

cyberduck works pretty good, and is free. I'm also dabbling with Kompozer for the Mac. I took 1 look at iweb and wasnt enthralled...

Both are free and easily found with Google.

I recommend FireFTP if you use Firefox: http://fireftp.mozdev.org/.

You might also pickup Filezilla (FTP) freely at http://filezilla-project.org
