My school has switched to Office 2007 from Office 2003.
It is driving me crazy with Access, Excel, and Word. The software developers have hidden tools and formatting stuff that used to be intuitive (whatever they were thinking-of when they did it was certainly not the longtime user!)
And I AM a longtime user — since version 2 of Word — and I have always been able to set Word under Tools>Options to view all the formatting marks — including the margins — in Print Layout View.
Word 2007 does not seem to have that option, even under the 'Word Options.'
It does not even come-up under half a dozen 'Help searches' that I have reworded different ways each time. I know how to set margins, but I want to SEE them on screen. I don't want to see the grid, just the margins.
Can anyone tell me if it is still possible to view the margin lines, and where I can go to change it so it will be my default view?

Completely flummoxed in Word,
Don

I would sincerely suggest going down to your local bookstore and picking up "Office 2007 for Dummies". I had to take a training course in Office 2007 at work that was 10 hours on each app in the suite.

I may have to do that — they switched the software on all the school computers here just before the semester break. They do have training sessions on campus, but they are not scheduled until next semester, and I have to do things here on the school computers during the break.
I may just bring a sledgehammer tomorrow — won't help me get my work done but maybe the threat will make the computer behave . . . <a rueful grin>

The magic answer for just about everything in Word 2007 can be had by clicking the office icon in the top left.

At the bottom of that menu you'll see "Word Options". There's other ways to get there but get in the habit of embracing the horror that is the Office Icon.

Nope, tried that.
No way that I can find through Word Options to see the margins.
Spent over an hour going through every single option they provided with no luck (though luck does NOT seem to have anything to do with it).
Still flummoxed,
Don

I am by nature a fairly patient person. I have carved stone for over thirty years. Word 2007 is worse than granite.

You switch layout view by clicking the tiny images on the extreme top left of the bottom toolbar. Or the long way as Autoload said:

1. Click the Microsoft Office Button (top left), and then click Word Options.
2. Click Advanced, and then click the Show text boundaries check box under Show document content. The page margins appear in your document as dotted lines.

Thanks for holding my hand, CrocHunter. That did it. Now, can you magically make the rest of Word 2007 behave the way I want it to? <dreaming>

You need any tips on how to carve stone be glad to help you out . . . (or anything else sculpture-related). <grin>

Happy Holidays!
