hello, all... this may be a strange question, but...

i have a question about email forwarders. when an email forwarder is created, does it need an actual pop account to hold information until it gets forwarded? for e.g., let's say i create a forwarder called janice@mydomain.com to go to janice@hello.com. does the forwarder need a pop account at mydomain.com behind-the-scenes to temporarily store the emails until it's forwarded? and, if so, does it create the pop without my knowledge?

the above question doesn't seem to make much sense to me, so it's ok if it doesn't make sense to you.

You need to create a SMTP account for that name...then forward it to your outside email.

From the help site:
http://help.powweb.com/faqs/email.php

Q. How many POP 3 account do I get?
A. PowWeb offers you 100 POP3 accounts. If an email account is deleted, this will not be part of those 100 any more.

Q. Do I get any email with a pointer domain?
A. PowWeb offers you 100 forwarding (SMTP) accounts for the pointed domain.

Q. What is SMTP? What should I use it for?
A. SMTP stands for Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Simply put, it allows for you to forward email to a pre-existing email address.

Basically...pop is for actually email sending/receiving/managing. And SMTP is for forwarding an email address to a user.
