Does anybody have experience in recording audio mp3 for website download? I am making a 30-minute free mp3 to download in exchange of signing my guest book for entrance to my site. My budget for quipment to record and create a mp3 audio file is $250. Any suggestions?

Allen--
audacity is a free open source software for recording and editing sounds
I have used this before and I have had good recordings with this software.
you just need a good mic.

I like Goldwave. It's shareware. http://www.goldwave.com/ I think your biggest expense would be the microphone rather than the software, though.

This all depends on what you are recording. your voice, a CD/Vinyl (which is ilegal if you dont own the copyright) or from some other source.

Actually, I am giving a webinar with www.gotowebinar.com and although they have a recording button on the dashboard, I want to be able to have a back up recording device.
Someone mentioned a radio shack recording where one end goes into the phone you are using for the call and one end goes into the computer so you can back up the lecture. Any suggestions?

Skype is good for recording phone calls even on mobile/cell phones, WavePad is another free editing solution. I like Goldwave for recording and especially editing locally.
