I would like to install xoops into my powweb sit but problem occurs in step 5 and it's show " unable to connect the database". Do anyone know how to fix it? Thanks

Are you using username.powwebmysql.com for the connection to the database instead of localhost? (You should be!)

this guide (http://www.scribd.com/doc/191878/XOOPS-Installation-Guide) appears to indicate the database needs to be created before installation...but I have no idea.

You should be good to go.

It looks like the username.powwebmysql.com address for your account is setup properly.

Sometimes there is an issue with this address on a new account. Just in case though can I have you put in 10.1.40.119 as the address for the mysql server(This address only applys to sd228hk and no one else).

Then just check that the database name and user name and password are set correctly. Afterward you should not be getting a "could not connect to the database" error.

Possibly another error if other parts of your application haven't been setup correctly. We can work on those if they come up. Just paste the error message in here.

the database needs to be created before installation

I had to create a database for Zen Cart (on another web host) and Typolight (on yet another web host) in the control panel. I only had to specify the database name and admin login. Then I could use the script to create the tables in the database.

Hi There, I used to use Xoops on Powweb. Infact I used to be a theme designer for them. I had to create the database first before installing xoops. You might wanna try that and see if that works, it worked everytime for me.
