Well today my website was workign and I could get to it but the contact page I created and tested extensively is not working today. So I went to see if it had been modified or something and I noticed a few things.

1. I never had an .htaccess file in my cgi-bin folder before and now there is one in there with the following line "Options ExecCGI -Indexes". Who put that there?

2. There is a link to the cgi-bin directory in my htdocs folder. I never put that there either!

3. The counter cgi I had in there was working but it had been modified!

So I deleted the .htaccess file in the cgi-bin directory and removed the link AND NOW NOTHING WORKS! Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Have I been hacked or did PowWeb adjust me settings?

heya Sentinel :)

check out this post:

you may be on the same server.. if I were to venture a guess, I would guess it was some work pow is doing trying to correct the current problems on the servers, which had side effects..

but, that'd just be a guess. If you are still having probs.. email me.. we'll try to get ya back up & runnin'

DOH! That is what I was afraid of. Since PowWeb admins don't freaking tell us anything I assumed that I was hacked and I deleted what I thought to be the offending files. That probably screwed eveything up.

All of this could be avoided if they would just post something telling us what is going on!

Currently I have everything set back up the way it was when I first started that everything was working great. I sure hope that they fix it fast or post something telling us what is going on. Then I won't mess with it for a while while they work.
