Hi!

I’m trying to convert some PowerPoint (PPT) files to PDF on my site (hosted on powweb) using PHP, Python or ActionScript.

In my research I found that I need to install the OpenOffice on the server in order that I can do this, so, my program (actually in Python) would call OpenOffice and this create the output file on PDF format.

I have done this in my local computer (Windows) to try the solution and it works, so my question is if I can install OpenOffice on my powweb account.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Greetings

Can't you just pull the files down, do the conversion and then upload them?

I can’t, I need to do the conversion on the site and then use the converted file in the program.

OpenOffice runs on a machine locally. Their server is intended for office wide deployments, not web deployments as far as I can tell.

You need to find a different method. You won't be able to install Oo on your Powweb account.

You can't install OpenOffice on the server.

What they said.

P.S. Ian, why does your signature say size at the end?
