I would like to link to a site to improve it's rating for Google. Actually, I would be happy for now just to get it listed in Google.

The site is longisland.usta.com. But linking to that apparently doesn't work.

If you type in that URL, you are redirected to

http://www.network.usta.com/publish.sps?syndicatorguid={78FF8BDB-EC84-425F-91CB-AD5F4DAF278A}&rmasiteinstanceguid={0AB3BFE6-D801-46CA-9380-6A95DF2A7E16}&rmapageid=25&sectionid=4567

If I link to that instead, will that work?

It's a bit funky but sure you can link to that or just http://longisland.usta.com
From the base url I get sent here http://www.network.usta.com/microsite/splash.sps
Long Island is http://www.network.usta.com/microsite/default.sps?siteid=239
Either of those would be fine or even simply http://www.network.usta.com

In this case, you should link to the destination URL. As Croc points out, the original URL responds with a string of two code 302 redirects. Code 302 redirects do not generally pass on the value of the links in the search engines.
