I'm a new user as of today. I received my package setup message with the FTP instructions, so I fired up Fetch and did what looked like the right thing. But...

I can't access the site.

So, I went to the FTP help area and it says that Fetch should have seen a bunch of folders including one called "htdocs." Well, it didn't. All it saw were the two named . and ..

So where is htdocs? And is there any way to transfer my folder of files into it? Or do I have to delete them and do it over.

But most important, how come I can't see a folder names htdocs?

Hi Dave, and welcome

I don't see a temp domain for you. http://wanamassaus.powweb.com/ If it has been more than a few hrs since you signed up fire an email of to support@powweb.com

for now use magnatar.powweb.com instead of ftp.wanamassaus.com

It can take up to six hours for new sites to be setup depending on the server queue. If it has been longer than this you should contact support and post here.

Thanks for the replies. Yes, it does look as though it's set up properly now. I guess I'm going to have to delete those files and re-upload them.

It's strange that I received the message to go ahead and start using the account hours before it was actually ready. Now that I see how it looks when it's setup properly, I can see that it was not setup when I did the uploads -- but how was I to know that at the time? Ah well, as soon as I have a decent internet connection, I'll try again.

As luck would have it, I have one of the dodgiest connections to the Internet in the known universe. DSL at 27,000 feet from the exchange. When it works, it's wonderful, but it can drop out at any moment for no apparent reason. Since I posted last evening, I've not been able to get in again using DSL (it's raining here for the first time in months, so I expect that's the problem). Even my dial-up 56K Earthlink backup wasn't working last evening (although it is now).

Thanks,

Dave
