Powweb's response on Space

I find the post on what happened with Space on the announcements forum interesting for 2 reasons:

1. The only reason I would guess that Internet Seer is active on most of the powweb accounts that it IS active on is that POWWEB's site submit link from Ops submits to the Claymont search engine. Claymont, in turn, "sponsors" you (without yyour consent) to receive automatic Internet Seer monitoring. So, indirectly, PowWeb has brought the increase in Internet Seer traffic on themselves.

2. According to Powweb's pre-sales FAQ, they do NOT host adult oriented sites. That's one of the reasons I went with Powweb. How can an porn site bring down a Powweb server if they don't host adult sites? I'm a bit confused on that one...

We cannot stop a customer from lying or misrepresenting themselves. In all cases where we have found porn sites, we have immediately terminated the account and moved on. In any case where the site signing up had an obviously X rated domains name, they are never set up to begin with.

I changed your password to test this, so you will want to log into Ops and change your mySQL users pass back to whatever it was.

It means your mySQL access is working perfectly. The problem is somewhere else outside of our (Powweb's) control.

That must be the Powweb cut and paste stock answer. I've heard that so many times this weekend.

You need to change the user name in the script and the password. You are trying to login as Root, obviously this is not allowed.

Well... its funny. No one has changed anything... oh, except for my helpful buddy who changed my psswd to "test" things.

It wasn't set to log in as root before. How could it have been changed if noone on my end has changed anything?

you guys need to pull yourselves together! space is always having problems and you always have excuses. just shut up with the excuses and give me the service i deserve - i payed for! if i here any excuse....
just admit your wrong move on and fix ther database.

I have to echo Bonez on this one: thanks for the updates.

Stuff happens--especially to anything mechanical. I lost my power steering yesterday, so space being down seems to fit right in with the start of my week. ;-).

I understand mechanical failures, it can happen. But I have been with Powweb now for two weeks, and I don't think a day has gone by that something hasn't worked. It's either the site, ftp, or right now, mysql is down and I can't get into my site Forum. I'm receiving this error:

I haven't gone "live" yet, and at this rate, I never will be able to.
